AFTER EXILE

1 Стамбул .jpg

After the Circassian Muhajirism is an ongoing documentary project exploring memory, displacement, and return among Circassian communities more than 150 years after the end of the Caucasian War. Photographed across Turkey, Jordan, Israel, and the Republic of Adygea in the North Caucasus, the project follows the scattered geographies of the Circassian diaspora and the fragile connections that continue to link them to their historical homeland. At its center is the village of Mafekhabl, one of the few settlements established for Circassian repatriates returning from Syria, Jordan, Israel, the former Yugoslavia, and the United States.
The project moves between diaspora communities and the North Caucasus, examining how memory survives through landscapes, family histories, everyday life, and the experience of return.
